About the Site

It was a dark and stormy night…or maybe it was Thanksgiving weekend. Either way, this site was born on a night when I had nothing to do except read my Sociology textbook. I didn’t want to do that, so I made this blog instead. Since then, I’ve written about everything from my love of boots to posts making fun of casual homophobia to serious commentary about tuition rates. Also, queer stuff. Lots and lots of queer stuff. Basically, this blog serves as my soapbox for everything that’s on my mind.

Which, you know, is kind of the point of a personal blog.

About the Name

My blog’s name comes from “Never is a Promise” by Fiona Apple, which is my OMG this describes everything song. The lyrics are from these lines: “But as the scenery grows, I see in different lights.” So there you go.

Comment Policy

I’m a big fan of freedom of speech, so pretty much anything goes in the comments on this blog. HOWEVER, I think we can all agree to a few basic rules:

1. Needless to say, don’t spam my comments. I have Akismet enabled, so spammy comments will never make in on the site anyways.

2. Your comment must be relevant to the blog entry. I don’t expect comments in return for comments I make on other blogs, but if you want to reply to a comment I made on your blog, feel free to do so. HOWEVER, please also say something meaningful about the entry that you’re commenting on. If you don’t have anything to say about it, reply to my comment on your blog, or email me.

3. Your comment must not contain hate speech or sexually explicit language. If you want to be a racist/sexist/homophobic/transphobic/ableist prick, or if you want to write something erotic, please do so elsewhere.

4. Your comment must not contain large amounts of profanity. A four-letter word here and there is fine, but if every other word in your comment is a swear word, I’ve got a problem.

The Fine Print

This website is hosted by WordPress. I may eventually move to different host and get a domain name, but not right now. If you’re looking for a simple blog host, I would recommend WordPress.

I write blog entries assuming that the people reading them are around my age, give or take a few years (so I’d say in the 16-22 range). Therefore, some entries might not be suitable for children or sensitive adults. I will try to place warnings on entries that may have sensitive content in them, but I’m not perfect. Please read my blog with discretion.

If you’re offended by something that I write, you can comment on the entry in question and explain your case. If you don’t want your problem made public, you can email me. As long as you’re civil, I’ll consider what you have to say.

I DO NOT and will never accept payment in any form in exchange for advertising on my blog, so please don’t waste my time or yours by asking. If I say I like something on my blog, it’s because I actually like it.
