About
Hi, I’m Wednesday. To answer your question: yes, Wednesday is my actual name, although some of my friends have taken to calling me “Graham” instead (it’s a long story). To answer your other question: no, I was not born on a Wednesday (it was a Monday).
I’m 19 years old and recently completed my first year at the University of Guelph. I’m currently majoring in psychology but I’m not exactly sure what I want to do with my life. I’m considering areas such as youth counselling and women’s rights advocacy.
Although I’m a university student, I spend most of my time on decidedly non-scholarly activities such as painting cannons, random adventures, and Robot Unicorn Attack (high score: somewhere around 95,000). As you probably guessed, I’m a procrastinator extraordinaire, but I seem to be able to get away with it because I got 100% on a midterm that I didn’t begin studying for until the night before. Yes, my friends hate me because of this.
I was born in Ottawa, but I lived in a small town in eastern Ontario for 10 years. To give you a sense of how “country” this town was: when I was in high school, riding your ATV to school was considered a perfectly acceptable form of transportation. I now have an unfortunate habit of occasionally not pronouncing the “g” in words that end in -ing as a direct result of living in that town for a prolonged period time. Don’t worry, I’m working on it.
Politically, I’m very liberal. I’m pro-choice, pro-separation of church and state, pro-not being denied health care because you can’t afford it, and pro-people having more rights than corporations. I’m also a feminist and proud of it. Generally speaking, I support whatever Ann Coulter or Bill O’Reilly are against. I identify as queer, and I don’t like anyone who wants to take away any of my rights because of that.
I’m agnostic and very happy in my secularism. I was raised in a Christian household and went through a brief period of being a rabid evangelical Christian in my early teens. So yes, I’ve “known the love of Jesus” and no, I have no plans of experiencing it again.
Other things you should know about me (because I like point-form lists):
- I am incredibly awkward in social situations. I’m sure that a lot of people think I’m cold/distant/a bitch because I don’t really talk much, but I’m not. I like people but I don’t really know how to talk to them.
- I have a cat named Cookie, who lives with my grandmother. She definitely loves my grandmother more than she loves me, but I still adore her. I miss her a lot and I have discovered that cat videos on YouTube are a very poor substitution for an actual cat. I anticipate being a crazy cat lady when I’m elderly by the time I’m 30.
- I own 98495839 cardigans, but still do not have enough of them.
- I wouldn’t be able to function without Fiona Apple, my beloved Macbook Pro. Or Fiona Apple, the musician that I named my laptop after, for that matter. My iPhone ranks a close second on the “What Wednesday Could Not Function Without” list.
When I’m not studying, enjoying my new found social life, or spending the entire day on the Internet, you can find me reading, writing (usually crappy) poetry, doing yoga, fooling around in Photoshop, picking at my guitar, or dancing around my room to “Amanaemonesia” by Chairlift.
